Congratulations are in order to the entire Coco team for their Golden Globe win for Best Animated Motion Picture. Lee Unkrich (Director), Adrian Molina (Co-Director), and Darla K. Anderson (Producer) took to the stage and with his heart jumping out of his chest, Lee Unkrich thanked the entire Pixar crew, loved ones who have passed, and to the people of Mexico whos beautiful tradition of Dia de los Muertos inspired the film (Lee's complete speech is below).
This marks the 8th Golden Globe win for Pixar Animation Studios in the Best Animated Motion Picture category. The history behind the Golden Globes category for Best Animated Feature Film began in the 2006/2007 award season (64th Annual Golden Globes) with Pixar Animation Studios claiming the coveted award each nominated year — with the exception of the 2011/2012 award season - when The Adventures of Tintin was awarded over Cars 2. During the 71st Annual Golden Globes, Pixar's Monsters University was the studio's first film that had been omitted from the Best Animated Feature Film category with the three nominations going to The Croods, Frozen and Despicable Me 2. See below for a complete Golden Globe history of the Best Animated Feature Film category winners.
We should note that Pixar Animation Studios has received a total of six nominations for music/score - winning only once during the 2010 Golden Globes for Up, composer Michael Giacchino.
Stay tuned to this post as we'll be updating with more details and photos from the evening (see below).

My heart is pounding out of my chest. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this honor and thanks to every last member of Coco's talented crew who gave their all during the six years that we were making the film. Thank you to the executive teams at Pixar and Disney for trusting us to tell this unique story and empowering us to tell it with the respect and the dignity that it deserved. Thank you to our loved ones who are no longer with us who in ways great and small paved the way for us to be the people that we are today - we love you, we honor you, you inspire us. And finally, Coco would not exist without the incredible people of Mexico and their beautiful traditions of Dia de Muertos - Muchísimas gracias!
The winner of Best Motion Picture - Animated goes to the one-and-only @pixarcoco! A well deserved honor, congrats! #GoldenGlobespic.twitter.com/zxaec9dxEp— Golden Globe Awards (@goldenglobes) January 8, 2018
