Pixar Animation Studios Artist Showcase Series to Feature Aaron Hartline's New Book, 'Box Meets Circle'

Back in 2014, both Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios teamed up with Disney Worldwide Publishing to launch a series of children's book created by artists and storytellers from each studio. The Animation Studios Artist Showcase series was the brainchild of John Lasseter, whose continued support enables his talented employees by giving them an opportunity to showcase their personal projects in picture books featuring original art and characters.

Today, animator Aaron Hartline announced his upcoming book titled, Box Meets Circle, making him the third artist featured in the Pixar Animation Artist Showcase series. The previous titles in the Pixar Animation Artist Showcase are 'Over There' by Steve Pilcher and 'Cloud Country' by Noah Klocek and Bonny Becker. Hartline has been an animator with Pixar Animation Studios since Up, though his animation background dates back to the late-nineties.

Sketches via Aaron Hartline's Twitter

In 2011, Hartline's twitter account was filled with various original and beloved characters sketched on post-it notes with quirky and witty taglines, the project was called "The Daily Post-it", however, back in 2014 those sketches morphed into box and circle designs - which we're assuming is when his book idea for Box Meets Circle began. According to Amazon, Box Meets Circle will be a 48-page hardcover book (full synopsis below):

Circle loves to jump, but Box just falls flat. Oww! Box loves to sit, but Circle just rolls away. Whoa! They want to play together, but how? They figure out that Box can sit on Circle as Circle jumps to her heart's content. However, Box still experiences an Oww! every once in a while.
The official release date for Box Meets Circle is April 3, 2018, however, you can pre-order your copy today.
