2017 continues to be an exciting year for Pixar fans. In addition to all the great Cars 3 news which has recently been released, today marked another milestone as the first 2-minute teaser trailer for Pixar's Coco was unveiled. This is the first broadly released and rendered footage of the film and it looks extremely vibrant and electrifying.
The admiration Miguel has for his Idol Ernesto de la Cruz goes deep — deep into the Land of the Dead, that is. The trailer begins in a beautiful candlelit room with a similar narrative as Chef Gusteau in Ratatouille, with Miguel popping in an old VHS tape of Ernesto de la Cruz as he talks about his passion for music, "I have to sing, I have to play. The music is not just in me, it is me." As the trailer continues, we see Miguel's big strum on Ernesto de la Cruz's guitar as he is transported into the Land of the Dead and we see our first skeletal figure - who seems just as frightened to see Miguel as he is to see her.
The entire trailer highlights a beautiful visual tone to the film, with the 2-minute teaser set at night or in a darkened room, making the lighting and effects really stand out. Don't miss our Live Hangout tonight to hear our additional thoughts and comments, details below.
SYNOPSIS
Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history. Directed by Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3”), co-directed by Adrian Molina (story artist “Monsters University”) and produced by Darla K.
