Madame Tussauds in San Francisco is looking to immortalize a new Bay Area tech innovator into their wax figure line-up - and Pixar's very own Ed Catmull is in contention. According to
Examiner, fans have the opportunity to
nominate their technological icon (with a large Bay Area presence) until April 23. Catmull would be a great addition to the San Francisco attraction given his computer science and texture mapping background (
Catmull-Clark algorithm) that has changed the future of the animation industry. Other popular Bay Area tech innovators who have also received nominations include Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and Wired Magazine co-founder Jane Metcalfe.
Beginning on April 24, Madame Tussauds will open a second round of voting for fans to then cast their vote on the six finalists (we'll update this post with the voting link once it's open). The winner will be announced on May 26, 2015 with their likeness cast in wax at the
Madame Tussauds in Fisherman's Wharf.
