When Julie attended the Monsters University Press Event in April, she was able to enjoy a 40-minute screening of the film. During the movie, she was instantly drawn to the hilarious scene where Art gives Mike and Sulley a Dream Journal when they arrive at the Oozma Kappa house. The scene only lasts mere seconds, but to her, it was so funny that she was adamant that we had to make a replica dream journal inspired by that scene.

Although, the dream journal itself was conceptualized by Julie, I carried out the arduous task as I had to hand-draw the entire notebook from glancing at a screenshot from the Monsters University trailer. Not only was the notebook itself completely customized (over many hours to try and get as many details accurate as possible) but the rainbow sticker located in the lower left corner had to be hand-drawn as well! The notebooks were then professionally printed (along with the rainbow stickers) so it would be a legitimate, high-quality journal.
On May 29, we were lucky enough to attend our second (complete) advanced screening of Monsters University - but this time the event was being attended by none other than Director, Dan Scanlon. The Michigan native decided to bring his charity screening to the Detroit area to visit with guests as well as support some amazing causes. We'll be writing up an entire post soon with all the details from the event - along with details of the custom Robert Kondo art piece we won at the silent auction (link will be posted here)!
After the screening wrapped, we were able to chat with Dan again (we were able to chat prior to the event as well) and this time we presented him with the custom version of the journal that we made for him and Kori Rae (Producer) - these version included their names in gold puffy paint (just like in the movie).

After giving Dan his copy, he was also gracious enough to autograph a personalized version for Julie and I...but he also autographed an extra journal for us to give away on our site!
