Composer Mychael Danna Shares Peek into the 'Onward' Scoring Process

Pixar's upcoming suburban fantasy film, Onward is set for a March 6, 2020, theatrical release but that doesn't mean we have to wait for additional details surrounding the film. Today, composer Mychael Danna shared a photo on his personal Instagram account showcasing his notes on scoring Onward. If you recall back in February (2019) Mychael noted in an interview that he and his brother Jeff Danna were working the film stating "animation is something I really enjoy working on."

The brothers are no stranger when it comes to working with Pixar Animation Studios, as the duo scored The Good Dinosaur and Mychael Danna scored Sanjay's Super Team. The brotherly love continues as Onward follows two teenage brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left in the world. In fact, director Dan Scanlon noted the film was inspired by his own relationship with his brother, "At Pixar, we try to create stories that come from some kind of personal truth." 

We can't wait to hear how the Danna brothers create the fantasy world of Onward, with their varied catalog of emotional, unique, and highly varied styles — we know we'll be in for a little bit of magic.
